Our philosophy
Looking beyond the diagnosis and focusing on the whole person
A diagnosis is a useful starting point, but it rarely tells the whole story. Two people with the same diagnosis can need very different care depending on their sleep, stress, health history, relationships, school or work demands, and what they want from treatment.
That's why every plan at Joy Integrative Psychiatry starts with a careful look at the full picture. When medication makes sense, it is chosen thoughtfully and adjusted carefully. When other factors are driving symptoms, like sleep, a medical condition, or a medication side effect, we name them and address them too.
- Symptoms & historyWhat you're experiencing now, and what has or hasn't helped before.
- SleepHow you sleep shapes mood, focus and anxiety, and the other way around.
- Stress & lifeWork, school, family and the demands on your time and energy.
- Attention & moodHow your mind is working day to day, not just on a checklist.
- Physical healthMedical conditions, labs and medications that affect mental health.
- LifestyleNutrition, movement and routines that support treatment.
- Your goalsWhat feeling better would actually look like for you.
- Your teamCoordination with therapists, pediatricians and primary care, with your consent.

Referral informationCommon questions
Do you see patients in person?
No. Joy Integrative Psychiatry is a telehealth-only practice. All visits happen by secure video, and you need to be physically located in Arizona at the time of each appointment.
What ages do you treat?
Children age 6 and older, adolescents, and adults. For patients under 18, a parent or legal guardian takes part in the evaluation and gives consent for treatment.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. We are in-network with plans including Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna and Evernorth, Health Net and Carelon Behavioral Health. Coverage depends on your specific plan, so please see our insurance and payment page or call us to confirm before your first visit.
Do I need a referral?
Most patients do not need a referral to schedule. Some insurance plans require one for specialty care, so it's worth checking with your plan. Therapists, primary care clinicians and pediatricians are also welcome to refer patients.
